The Brunswick Bowling Club is one of the only lawn bowling clubs in the Moreland area still offering real grass greens for bowlers to play on. We believe it is a much more authentic and traditional bowling experience. For barefoot bowling, it is much nicer walking in bare feet on real grass on a hot day than walking on carpet and concrete.
Our Green Keepers
Brunswick Bowling Club's greens are maintained by Doug Agnew of Agturf and his team, with the assistance of our resident expert Eddie Connell.
Doug Agnew was the President of the Victorian Greenkeepers Association for a number of years and also teaches apprentices / TAFE students in Victoria. Doug's expertise is vital to the consistency of our greens. Agturf works tirelessly making sure our greens are running true and maintain an "A" rating by the green inspectors.
Eddie Connell has been a member here for over 20 years. He is also one of our valued "life members". Over the years Eddie has worked with many changing committees and has a wealth of knowledge regarding the lawn bowling greens and the bowls club in general. Eddie invests a substantial amount of time working on green preparation, the green surrounds and club maintainance. We can not thank Eddie enough for his efforts.
It is very entertaining to listen to Doug and Eddie when they have a difference of opinion on how things should be done. The rules are Eddie is always right!
